Love-ly Ladybugs !!!...for Valentine's Day ...!!!

Love-ly Ladybugs

Just when everyone in Pixie Hollow thought there was no hope of ushering in spring on time, Tinker Bell devised a plan that proved what a talented tinker she really was. In short order, every task on Fairy Mary's list was completed in short order -- including putting the last dots on the ladybugs. These love-ly ladybugs are just the choice for industrious little valentine-makers. Kids can quickly create enough to hand out to a whole classroom or scout troop and still make each valentine a little different by varying the number and placement of the heart-shaped spots they draw on.

You'll need:

  • Love-ly Ladybug Valentines template
  • Scissors
  • Scrapbook paper (black and red)
  • Glue stick or glue dots
  • Black embroidery floss or thin yarn
  • Large-eye sewing needle
  • Ruler
  • Black colored pencil or marker
  • Gel pen or gold marker (for writing a valentine message on the back of the valentine)

Instructions :

1. Print out the template and use the pieces to cut out a black paper body and a set of red paper heart-shaped wings for each ladybug valentine.

2. Now add a set of antennae to the head end of each body. Thread the needle with the embroidery floss or yarn. Insert the needle down through the paper and back up again about ½ inch away, as shown. Trim the floss to the desired length and knot each end.

3. To complete the ladybugs, glue the heart wings onto the bodies. Then use the ruler and marker to draw a vertical line down the center of each heart to divide the wings. For the finishing touch, have your kids draw heart-shaped spots on all the ladybugs.

4. Finally, use a gel pen or gold marker to write a valentine message on the back of each ladybug.
